Another sketch from the recent trip to Mexico. While sketching in and around San Pancho, I realized that what I miss most in February in Ontario is not warm temperatures or sunlight, it’s colour. The blues and grays of winter leave me wanting for rich greens, vivid blues and vibrant oranges. Until the spring, I guess I’ll have to sketch and paint the colours I crave.

San Pancho, a village north of Puerto Vallarta yet to be overtaken by large-scale tourism, has many quiet, colourful residential streets like the one I sketched. The fact that it was almost 50 degrees Celsius colder where I live in Canada made sketching in Mexico a real treat.
