Study Painting: Sharp-shinned Hawk in the Yard

February 25, 2011

'Sharp-shinned Hawk in the Yard - Study' (2011) by Jamie Kapitain. Oil on canvas board, 8x10 inches.

In January, I wrote about a backyard wildlife sighting that coincided with my increasing interest in sketching wildlife. After I did a sketch of the hawk, I decided to do a study painting. Now I’m planning to construct a life-sized model with hopes of scaling it up to be a float in the local Santa Claus parade. No, I’m kidding. I’ve gotten the hawk out of my system. There will be no more blog posts about this bird.
