Sketch: Toronto Living Room
February 24, 2012
Sketching interior spaces is a nice change of subject when you are a landscape painter. An interior reveals so much about its inhabitants by way of the art on the walls, the books on the shelves and the type of furniture. The scale of the space is human and intimate. In contrast, the landscape is vast and idealistically untouched by people. This sketch captures the living room of the downtown Toronto house I grew up in. The large painting beside the bookshelves is one of my earlier landscapes.
